Why is it fair that some people have to work hard and starve and others inherit wealth?

When you were 5 years old did your mother fail to teach you that it is wrong to take what belongs to others? Because someone has more stuff than others doesn't make it right to take it away from them and give it to others. But I understand you have a great sense of fairness and nobody will put you down for that, but it is misplaced.
