Are quarters better than semesters in college ?

I plan on attending Louisiana Tech University, in the Fall 2012. When they divide it to quarters doesn't that give me less time to study, like with semesters it's not a rush, huh ? Theres not too many colleges to choose from in louisiana, but I don't want to go to far. Well what my question is, is this for really smart kids who learn fast, within a small amount of time ? Or is there less work (stretch the work throughout the quarters) ?
