Storing clothes in boxs?

I'm moving soon and noticed that a box i had stored clothes in some time ago smelled musty it was in a dry place but on of the shirts looked like it was moldy how can i store clothes and keep the smell out and any potential dampness from ruining them. Thank you for any help you can offer
