1993 2.2 toyota camry wont start?

my car broke down about a quarter mile from my house. when i tried to start it would give me a rapid clicking. i then tried to jump start it the engine cranked but it wouldn't start. i then used my meter to see if the distributor was receiving power which it was. i didn't check fuel but i could smell the odor of fuel when i tried to crank. i took off the timing cover and the belt was fine. does anybody have any other ideas for me.
